Keep your Home Warm this Winter
Winter days can be cold and dark, making everyone look forward to coming home to warm house, but a toasty home can be easier said than done!
Here are our tips on keeping your home warm this winter:
Insulate the loft
Loft insulation is a great way to keep the heat in your home. Heat rises and with no loft insulation it will escape straight out of your roof! Loft insulation reduces the amount of heat that escapes your house, keeping you warmer for longer, even on the coldest night.
Buy a Programmable Thermostat
Invest in a programmable thermostat and decide when you want your home heated. Programmable thermostats allow you to decide what time the central heating comes on. Set it for an hour or two before you arrive home from work and enter a nice, warm house without wasting money heating an empty home all day.
Close the Curtains at Night
This will make a small difference by stopping heat from leaving through the windows, but the smallest differences all add up to keeping your home warm!
Wrap up
It may sound simple but wrapping up is the cheapest way to keep warm! Although it won’t make your home warm, sticking on a jumper will keep you warm!
Use Space Heaters
Space heaters are great for heating up a single room. These small heaters provide immediate heat wherever they are plugged in. However, make sure you don’t leave it on overnight and keep it away from flammable materials, as space heaters can be dangerous when left unattended.
New boiler
Is your boiler performing effectively? You may be losing money and heat due to an old boiler. Consider replacing or upgrading your boiler to properly heat your home this winter.
Keeping your home warm will help with maintenance as cold homes can be subjected to winter damage. Thinking of selling your home soon? Keep it warm to avoid unexpected maintenance costs before you leave!
